Some people dream of having a traditional home located far away from the hustle and bustle of life: some people get to.

The site for this Residence is a wildflower-filled mountain meadow near Big Sky, Montana with views of the Yellowstone National Park and of the Gallatin Mountain Range. The residence is inspired by a traditional Tuscan farm but given a unique design with the incorporation of mountain and modern architecture design elements. Simplistic shapes and volumes are connected on this single level layout with materials such as heavily smeared limestone, historic wood siding, and window walls and combined with accent timbers to give this residence its cohesive base.

The plan of the home is roughly 4,500 square feet and is based upon a series of pods. The ‘pods’ break the home into separate zones of use and creating interesting exterior spaces, this solution gives the home a very intimate feel by breaking up spaces and keeping private areas separate from public spaces. The exterior in-between spaces are throughout the perimeter and strategically located for the dramatic views to the meadows and mountain ranges surrounding the residence.

The interior will be divergent from the exterior theme with a more refined look with vernacular forms manipulated with a contemporary finish.
